News Release For immediate use NEW GAELIC DANCE CLUB FOR HIGHLAND CAPITAL Issued: Wednesday 01 September 2010 A new dance club is starting in Inverness. It's not a downtown nightclub however but a traditional Gaelic dance group called Dannsa Inbhir Nis which will hold monthly classes and cèilidh's on the south side of the city. The group will meet in the middle of each month to learn to stepdance and some old time cèilidh sets such as the lancers, quadrilles, and reels. There will then be a cèilidh dance open to the public on the last Saturday of every month in the Culduthel Hall on Green Drive. Here folk can take part in a traditional cèilidh where the new sets learned will be danced and individual's invited to perform a song, stepdance or party piece. The well known cèildh sets will also be danced. “This new club is great for the community on a number of different levels” states the Fòram Gàidhlig Inbhir Nis (Inverness Gaelic Forum) chairman Brian Ó hEadhra, who is helping set up the club. “It is a great way to keep fit, you can brush up on your Gaelic, and it is obviously very social activity for all. Everyone loves a right hò rò gheallaidh (hooley) and we are hoping for a big turn out!” So, if you like your cèilidh dancing, Highland culture, and are a sociable type then please join the group for the first class on Thursday 16th September at Bunsgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis (Inverness Gaelic School) at 8pm and then for the cèilidh on the 25th September at Culduthel Hall from 8pm. £5 entry. Pàric Ghnìomhachais Fairways Inbhir Nis 7 Màigh 2010 PRESS RELEASE Inverness Gaelic Centre/ Ionad Gàidhlig Inbhir Nis – Project Development Ambitious plans to bring together the various Inverness-based Gaelic organisations and interest groups under one roof have taken a decisive step forward following the appointment of Synergie Scotland Ltd. as project manager and lead designer for a purpose-built new development in Inverness. Integral to the development – proposed for the Slackbuie area of the City – are plans for Gaelic-medium wrap-around care for pre-school children under the direction of Cùram Chloinne Inbhir Nis. With the considerable increase in demand for Gaelic-medium nursery education – as currently witnessed at the Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis (Inverness Gaelic Primary School) – the new facility will also provide Gaelic-medium care for children under the age of three. The various bodies engaged in the promotion of Gaelic language and culture – Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comunn na Gàidhlig, Feisean nan Gàidheal, CLI Gàidhlig, Foram Gàidhlig Inbhir Nis and others – are currently based in separate locations across the City. A single hub will provide a unique and vibrant focal point for the Gaelic language in the Highlands while also providing economic benefits to each of the groups through sharing of facilities. Synergie Scotland are currently engaged in bringing together plans for a modern, energy-efficient building that will provide office accommodation and cultural/social resource areas accessible to the general public – as well as the child care facility.
